Katharine Hepburn was one of the brightest, most enduring actresses Hollywood, Broadway and TV has ever seen, but she said that she became an actress simply because she liked to show off.

So just what makes/made Kate so great?

Sixty-two odd years - 32 plays, 53 films and more Academy Awards than any star, as well as a roster of unforgettable parts - characters much like Kate herself, from headstrong and self-assured in The Philadelphia Story to adorable and feisty Ethel Thayer in On Golden Pond. Add to all that brains, beauty and breeding, and Katharine Hepburn is most certainly a performer like no other.

On these sites you can read about her achievements.
