Synopsis

After her physician brings her back to life from a critical illness, her gratitude quickly grows into love. Their romance is complicated, however, by the prejudices and greed of their intrusive neighbors and families. Shocked by the couples new relationship, their grown children conspire to drive the two lovers apart.

Critics' reviews

John J. O'Connor - The New York Times
"[Hepburn] still has the courage to make a fool of herself with style and verve. Even if we wince a bit at some of the film's innocence, we can't help admiring this remarkable woman's rare energy."

Hal Erickson All Movie Guide
"Mrs. Delafield Wants to Marry is formula all down the line, but every latter-day Katharine Hepburn deserves to be treasured."
